Laurel McArthur was born and raised in Winnipeg, she is trained in a number of dance disciplines and has a diploma in landscape design and horticulture science. She saw the audition notice for “Dark Forest” and decided to be fun to audition and although not an actor by day she gives an excellent performance as Emily in “Dark Forest”.
Veronica Ternopolski is proudly born and raised in Winnipeg's North End. This University of Winnipeg Theatre Graduate has performed in over a dozen Fringe Festival shows, as well as various indie films and commercials in her home town. She is a proud producer of “She Speaks Sweet Talk”, a night of sexiness, for Genderfest 2015 and 2016.
Veronica is looking forward to getting back into Stand Up comedy, writing ridiculous Haiku and dancing her pants off.
Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, began acting in childhood and continued throughout her school years. After high school, she enrolled in professional training at Onalee Ames Film Studio and in 2012, she spent 3 months in Los Angeles training in two advanced classes at the prestigious Ivana Chubbuck Studio. While in California, she performed in Desert Island, a play at the Stella Adler Theatre. Working with professional coaches and aspiring actors in L.A. gave Weronika the drive to further pursue acting, which lead her to play a role in her first Winnipeg Fringe show, and Lead role in Dark Forest. Soon after Weronika moved to Toronto and landed the role of Agata in the feature film, “Beeba Boys”. (2015) Deepa Metha.
Jalin's acting career debuted in University when she was studying Theatre. She found herself volunteering in school wide projects such as scene studies, and student films. While in University, Jalin auditioned for roles and mostly worked on short films in order to gain exposure. After working on set during the short film, Affinity, Jalin was convinced she had to pursue her acting career. She then landed a lead role on the feature film Dark Forest with Zell-Koj Studio. From there she was scouted by a writer from Poland, Fabio Soldani, who hired her for the feature film Assassin's Fury, as well as a short film, Way of Redemption. After travelling to Alabama to shoot both movies with director David A. Prior, Jalin returned to Winnipeg and was cast in the feature film Dead Men. Since then, Jalin has been focused on her career as a school teacher, but would like to begin auditioning for roles again, as her heart truly lies, behind the camera.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, Genevieve DeGraves is now based in Toronto, where she received her classical theatre training. Having been performing since childhood, she is passionate about sinking her teeth into a broad range of work, and is fresh on the Canadian theatre and TV and film scenes, ready to make her mark.
Jesse Laing was born on May 7th, and currently resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Having a passion for the arts throughout his childhood, he began an acting career in 2011 under the guidance of Canadian actor Darcy Fehr. Since then, he has appeared in multiple Manitoba produced films and television series, including “The Pinkertons,” and Zellkoj Studio's “Dark Forest.” Along with co-star Trevor Kristjanson, he forms one quarter of the Winnipeg production company Bifrost Films, having produced and starred in their own short films, and web series, including the award nominated “Wasted.” His latest endeavour is branching out into theatre, where he will appear in the OBIE award winning play “The Thugs,” performed at the 2016 Winnipeg Fringe Festival.
Graham Silver is an award winning actor, born January 30th in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Acting from the age of 15 years old he has always loved film and the art of story telling. Working in Film, T.V., Theatre, and web series, Graham is a multi faceted actor. He now resides in Toronto continuing to pursue his dream, training and acting in several films and T.V. shows such as Civil War Chronicles on American Hero's Channel.
Alyssa was born on June 6, 1994 in Winnipeg,Manitoba. She decided in 2014 she was going to make her dreams of becoming an actress into reality. ‘Til this day on, she has been improving her work and is determined to reach her goals in the industry. After Dark Forest took the big screen, Alyssa recently has been casted as Mrs. Didcot for “Millworth” airing on Shaw TV and her lead role in “Hold on”. She was also nominated for best actress at the University of Winnipeg film festival for her lead role in Parallel (2014).
Trevor Kristjanson has been making movies since his teenage years, and has been working as an actor in Film/TV for the past several years. Trevor co-founded the filmmaking troupe Bifrost Films with his friends Bjorn Jakobson, Jesse Laing, and Dylann Bobei, and continues to Write, Direct, and Act in his own creations with friends. He was recently awarded the Golden Sheaf award for his short film “Boy Toys” in the comedy section.
Matthew Stefanson was first discovered by Guy Maddin in 2002 and has worked continuously in local films. Matthew has trained with Vancouver and Toronto acting coaches and has appeared in television series and films such as Todd and the Book of a Pure Evil, My Awkward Sexual Adventure and The Pinkertons.
Dennis Scullard is a dynamic character actor born in Vancouver and raised in Winnipeg. WIth a versatile range he has been in a large number of projects including short films, music videos, web series and feature films, including “This is why we fight” (2013), “Wasted” (2015) and “Dead Men” (2016)
As Peter in Dark Forest Dennis electrifies the screen as the psychotic boyfriend Peter. He's been compared to some of the greats like Frank Sinatra and Wilem Dafoe, but has a unique style all his own. Hard working he continues to hone his craft and light up the screen every appearance he makes.
Stefanie Austin is an actress, known for How It Ends (2018), The Pinkertons (2014) and Dark Forest (2015).
Corey Malone is an actor and writer, known for Dark Forest (2015), Red Devil (2019) and Kat and the Band.
David has been in the independent film biz since 1999 where he started volunteering at the Winnipeg Film Group and eventually worked as the Production Coordinator. He has produced numerous short films that have played festivals all over the world. Most recently he produced the feature length horror film “Dark Forest” which played theatrically and now streaming on VOD. He continues to develop feature films, documentaries and web content.
Shelly Anthis is a Winnipeg Casting Director and filmmaker. She has served as a director, producer, casting director, production manager and more on various music videos, PSA’s, short films and feature films. Selected credits include Joy Roy Ride 3, Silent Night, Parasite, Faces in the Crowd, We Were Children, The Exorcism of Molly Hartley, Heaven is for Real, Sunnyside and Mr Hockey.
Craig Guiboche is an editor, graphics designer and award nominated visual effects artist. He started as the head graphics designer at A-Channel (now CityTV) and went on to work in graphics for CBC. He spent time as an editor at The National Film Board. He has worked on hundreds of television shows, documentaries, feature films, short films, commercials, music videos and movie trailers. His work has reached audiences around the globe.
Roger Boyer is an indigenous filmmaker and Podcaster based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. “Dark Forest” is his debut feature film.
James Hofer has produced electronic music under monikers such as The Will To Power and Viva Non. His works tend to have a focus in ethereal aesthetics. Dark Forest is James Hofer’s film composition debut.
